Immigration
ICE activity is picking up in the Lancaster Area. It is hard not to feel helpless. Here are some concrete things that you can do:
1) Make sure people know their rights. ACLU has good information about the rights of immigrants
https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/immigrants-rights
2) If you know of ICE activity, call the Central PA hotline: PIRC has joined community organizations and community volunteers to create a hotline for those impacted by ICE activities! If you have been affected by ICE enforcement, call or text the hotline at 717-229-7452.
3) Donate to the Lancaster Neighbor Fund now. Our fund –managed by Parish Resource Center has started to receive applications more frequently. We provide quick funds to families who are affected by ICE in Lancaster County.
4) Spread the word about all of these resources and organizations. A quick like or share goes a long way!”
Immigration Team’s Key Issues:
-
Support Church World Service Lancaster – End the Furlough
-
Monitor and Resist ICE actions in Lancaster County (churches, schools, workplaces, neighborhoods).
-
Support Refugee Programs – spread information to counter disinformation. Provide physical, educational, emotional and other support to refugees who are already here. Defend the human rights of asylum seekers
-
Support Immigrant Rights – migration across borders for work is a fake “crime” conjured by xenophobes, resist and call out the scapegoating and othering of migrant workers on whom our economy depends, point out this hypocrisy at every opportunity, demand human rights for every person
